The Portland Lace Society's annual Spring Cleaning Lace Making "Stuff" Swap
on Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 9:30 AM - 2 PM
at the Sellwood Community Center, 1436 SE Spokane St., Portland. (scroll down to view map)

The activities will include:

  • 10 AM - 2 PM: an all day beginning bobbin lace class. Practice pillows available.
  • 1 PM: Tatting Quarterly which focuses on tatters getting together to learn one or more techniques.
  • 9:30 AM - 2 PM used lace making equipment offered for sale by various sellers. Bring lace making "stuff" you have not used or will never use; for selling, trading, or swapping.

Bring a lunch and your current project to work on. Hot Water and tea will be provided.

The Portland Lace Society Annual Lace Day on Saturday, October 6, 2012

10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

at the Sellwood Community Center
1436 SE Spokane St., Portland
(on the corner of 15th and Spokane St in Sellwood)

Featured Speaker: Sylvia Murariu
Sylvia will give us some history and background of Romanian Point Lace.

Details on mini-classes listed above:
Beginning Tatting: Bring a shuttle and size 10 thread in two colors or Sherri will have some extras.

Tatting Beyond Beginning: Two shuttles wound CTM (continuous thread method) with size 20 thread and one shuttle with seed beads (7 or 8 inches worth on a yard or two of thread). I will bring magnetic bracelet clasp. We will be doing split rings with beads in the middle.

Teneriffe Lace: If you want to try this, please let Elena know ahead of time so she can have the kit/forms ready. E-mail her at - to2@optusnet.com.au You will need to have size 12 Perle Cotton in color of your choice and a long blunt tapestry needle to weave the threads.

Romanian Point Motif: Kit $5 to be purchased at time of instruction.
